The Life and Death of Timothy Mcveigh

Timothy Mcveigh was an ordinary man to say the least. He was a veteran in the Gulf War. He never was though of as pure evil or such. This all changed when he committed an act of terrorism which has been defined as the worst ever on American soil.

He had placed a truck bomb under the Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City in April 1995 in his private "war" against the Federal Government. He thought that the federal government had too much control over peoples lives. He killed 168 people, 19 of them were children. He has never expressed remorse or regret for his action. His defense, which has been by a team of 25 lawyers, has cost the taxpayers $100 million.

I think that is purely ridiculous! I think there was hard evidence that Mcveigh was guilty and that trying to defend him was futile. So I really feel that we shouldn’t have had to pay $100 million for something that lacks sense. Of course, this is just my humble opinion.

Timothy Mcveigh has been scheduled to die on June 11th, 2001, just one day after I wrote this. His execution has been well planned and is planned to go without any problems. His death will be witnessed by closed-circuit television by about 300 survivors and family members of the victims who died. Harley Lappin, the warden of the penitentiary in which Mcveigh is being held is prepared to videotape the execution if a court orders it.

Those opposed to the execution and those in favor of it will gather in separate groups in separate areas of the 33-acre prison grounds at about the time Timothy is expected to die. Although only a few had shown up Saturday, officials said they were prepared to accommodate hundreds. Right now, the media is almost completely focused on this topic. Timothy Mcveigh has become very famous. But he has earned his fame from a horrific act and this fame will probably die out soon after he loses his life from justice.
